Currently four Sunday School classes meet each Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. at Asbury Memorial UMC.  These are:

Clarence Gilbert Sunday School Class:  The purpose of this class is to study and expand our knowledge of the Holy Bible.  Our approach to the Scriptures is from an expository and analytical point of view.  We follow a lecture format, with opportunities for questions.  With God’s help, we hope and desire to make the lessons of God’s Word a part of our everyday lives, as we seek to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
If you have a desire to know more about the book that was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, then you are welcome to this class.  If you are just curious about this book called “The Word of God," you are also welcome.  Huey Warner is our teacher.  Mark Smith, Scott Glenn, and Steve Ellis are our backup teachers.  Ms. Merle Buckner is the president of the class and Ms. Lois Glenn is our secretary. The class starts at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday morning.  We follow the Lectionary; click here for our Topics and Scriptures for the Winter Quarter.

Faith Meets Life Class:  The Faith Meets Life Class is for adults of all ages who are interested in discussing current issues of social concerns as they relate to Christian teaching.  Come join us for discussion and debate on a variety of topics including education, peace, justice, fairness, hunger, homelessness, and discrimination.

Oasis Class:  The Oasis Sunday School class provides adults with a refuge from a busy  world and an opportunity to discover the spiritual perspective of practical
matters.  Topics to be explored are selected based on the needs and desires of class participants and change every 6 to 8 weeks. The facilitator directs
discussion in a casual, conversational format.  Recent studies did include Advent/Lent preparation, New Age practices, parenting, Book of James, caring for aging
parents, United Methodist doctrine, and the Five Love Languages.
If you would like an inexpensive get-away or need your spiritual batteries  recharged, give the Oasis
class a try. The class meets every Sunday (except during June, July, and August) at 9:45 a.m. in the first room on the left on the third story.

Children's "Godly Play" Sunday School:   Godly Play invites children age 3 through 5th grade to enter into the sacred stories.  Based on the Montessori method, Godly Play uses a careful telling of scripture stories, engaging story figures and a variety of creative activities to encourage children to seek and find their own answers to their faith questions.  This unique approach to religious education invites children to wonder about themselves, God and the world in a way that is playful and meaningful to them.  Godly Play respects the innate spirituality of children and encourages them to use their curiosity and imagination to experience the mystery and joy of God.
Godly Play is being held in the 2nd floor pre-school wing classroom right near the side door (near playground) from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.  Your children are all welcome!  We hope to see you on Sunday.

Asbury Senior Youth Class:  Our class is patterned after the Clarence Gilbert class, and our purpose is also to expand our knowledge of the Holy Bible.  Although we follow the lectionary and explore the same topics as the adult class, we focus more on group discussion and interaction. It is our attempt to provide sound life lessons based on the Scriptures. If you want to learn more about our Christian faith through Bible Study, this is the class for you. The leaders of our class are Scott Glenn and Mardy Murphy.  We both trust that The Holy Spirit is leading us in helping to develop our young people into responsible adults and Disciples of Christ. Our class starts at  9:45 a.m. on the third floor of the main building.  Click here for our Topics and Scriptures for the Winter Quarter.
